WORK WITHOUT AN LMIA

The International Mobility program is based on trade agreements and other relationships established with various countries. Work permits that fall within this area do not require the employer to apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).

A LMIA shows that an employer has been unable to hire workers who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Most employers are required to apply for a LMIA before hiring foreign workers but there are exceptions, like with the International Mobility program.

Although the LMIA isn’t required in these cases, a work permit is, and that permit should include the job offer from the employer.

We understand the various work streams for international workers who want to work in Canada. If you would like more information, we can explain the process to you and help determine which program is the best fit.
